YouTube Delights #2: Smokahontas Jones and Memphis Blac

A few weeks ago my boss introduced my to these fabulous working girls, Memphis Blac(aka Arapaho) and Smokahontas Jones. They are two (ex-)hookers from Dallas, Texas who are trying to make it big in the rap world. Although we all originally fell in love with the janky video, vulgar lyrics, crazy outfits, and painful harmony we came to realized that these two women are actually quite talented rappers. Memphis Blac owns a candy shop/bakery in East Dallas called Precious Treats, which has lead to the name of her production company, Precious Ent. It just gets better by the second and to be honest people, if you aren’t already amused I don’t know what to tell you.

Smokahontas Jones has a cigarette after her ball-bustin' solo.

The above are screen shots from their first single, “Got Dat Work–Smokahontas Jones ft. Memphis Blac” where the girls have ended up in Miami and are workin’ the track. We get to see the rear-ends of complete strangers who definitely do not know they’re in the video, Memphis adorned in condoms and knee high stiletto chaps, and of course their amazing choreography. Make sure you also see their most recent song, Hoe Money–Memphis Blac ft Smokahontas Jones. This song takes it down a notch, features a real melody, and depicts Memphis as a pimp and taking “money from them bitches like an ATM.” Last but not least please check out their 10min long interview, where we get the lowdown on prostitution, parenting, Memphis does a little show’n’tell as well as blows up a condom. Stellar.

As much as I can make snide comments like everybody else on the internet I really do need to give these women some credit. They are some genuinely talented rappers who are putting themselves out there. Personally, I have showed them to all my friends and even put Got Dat Work on my phone. I wish nothing but the best for these two.
